A Brief Background of the 5 Teams in the National League West
As with all games, baseball has its many divisions. A popular one is the national league of the west. This league has been fortunate to have two prestigious teams that were able to get on the top 10 list of the World Series title holders. As at the time of this writing, the league has 5 teams plus two expansions that consistently participate in its games. These teams include:
Arizona Diamondbacks
The Arizona Diamondbacks is about the newest team in baseball league. Compared to other teams that are at least 50 years old, this team was able to clinch its first National league championship title and World series title in 2001. They have also won the National league Western Division Championship four times since 1999. This team is one the expansion teams that take part in the national league of the west baseball games and competition. As of the time of this writing, their main player is Luiz Gonzales who has been very instrumental to their winnings.
The Colorado Rockies
This team is not exactly spectacular in their performance. So far, they have only succeeded in winning the Wild card twice. Apart from that, they have not been able to win any World series, national league championships or division championships.
LA Dodgers
Founded in 1855, the Los Angeles dodgers has many times, proved its ability by simply winning lots of titles. As at the time of this writing they have won twenty one national league pennants, 6 world titles, 1 AA pennant and are known as one of the leading baseball teams in the national league of the west division. The LA dodgers boasts of a sizable number of its ex-players and a few of its managers who have been inducted into the baseball hall of fame.
San Diego Padres
The San Diego padres have been in the game since the early sixties. They were one of the major teams that first joined the national league of the west and have won about seven titles and championships. One of their very best players, Trever Hoffman was given the highly desirable all-star award six times in his career with the San Diego Padres.
San Francisco Giants
Talk about a winning team with lots of history and this is it. Known as the giants from California, they were among the first few teams that joined the division and have been able to win 31 titles and championships in all –including twenty national pennants, six division championship titles and 5 world series titles.
These teams are all very good teams and baseball fans should be on the lookout for them. However, the LA dodgers still has the highest number of standings while other teams struggle to find their footing and hopefully win their own titles.
