Charity: The Dodgers Give Back |
|
It is important for people who have the resources to help out the less fortunate. The Dodgers Dream Foundation does just that. Founded in 1998, the Dodgers Dream Foundation was to give a helping hand to the youth of the Greater Los Angeles community. This foundation makes educational, athletic, and recreational provisions that the kids of Los Angeles would not otherwise have.
The Dodgers, Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks and local city officials have teamed up and completed eight Dream Fields at the following sites: Dodgers Dream Field at Culver Marina Little League, Seoul International Park, Algin Sutton Recreation Center, Montecito Recreation Center, Cheviot Hills Park, Bishop Canyon Recreation Center, Wrigley Field and Evergreen Recreation Center. This dream foundation also supports numerous educational programs and committed to a series of annual initiatives to improve the environment. In 2007, the Dodgers created Think Cure, their official charity and a key beneficiary of the Dodgers Dream Foundation. The partnership with City of Hope and Children's Hospital Los Angeles is designed to cure cancer in our lifetime.
The DDF raises funds through a number of fundraising events including the Dodgers Dream Foundation Message Board, Community Wall of Fame and Silent Auctions, which allows others from the community to give a helping hand. The DDF also hosts its annual Charity Golf Invitational and Bowling Extravaganza and receives contributions throughout the year from various individuals and corporate entities.
